The common factor across Werner’s career of Engineering, Management and Defence has been training. His passion for training has always been present in each of these. Werner has spent 25 years in TAFE with 13 years as a full time lecturer and nearly 30 years as an Army Reservist with many postings as an instructor.
His qualifications include a Bachelor of Education (Education and training of Adults), Diploma of Teaching (further Education) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
During his career, he has always had an interest in personal fitness and he has completed many fun runs but due to other sporting injuries and wear and tear, has had to manage his fitness regime to ensure longevity of an active life.
In the last ten years, his interest in hiking have seen him walk the Kokoda track (New Guinea), Milford Track (New Zealand) and very recently, Queen Charlotte’s Track (New Zealand). The latter was completed by Nordic Walking.
Nordic Walking has enabled him to maintain an active life while reducing impact on lower body joints. Werner can see the benefits of Nordic Walking and is developing his skills as a Nordic Walking Coach.
